MBI6334 is an advanced 64-channel high power constant current full-array local dimming (FALD) backlighting LED driver for LCD panel applications. The innovative architecture with embedded switch control system is designed to support up to 1:8 time-multiplexing and control up to 512 LED dimming zones application using internal Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control with selectable 12-bit color depth and independent current dimming control by Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) with selectable 10-bit color depth (of each LED current sink) to significantly improve contrast ratio for HDR applications.
When MBI6334 displays a 12-bit color depth video, S-PWM technology easily reduces the flickers and improves the image fidelity and variable refresh rate technology clearly avoids image tearing and stuttering.
Both compulsory and real-time LED error open/short detection and protection are included during both start-up and normal operation. Besides, MBI6334 also provides DC/DC converter feedback control with IC cascaded, ghost elimination function, and over-temperature protection features. The brightness of each LED is controlled through the SPI interface by the host controller.
