The temperature inside LEDs may soar due to influences from their operating environment. By automatically reducing the current once the temperature goes above the protection limit, the thermal foldback function can prevent overheating which thus promotes reliability and saves space on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). In addition, when the temperature of the detection point exceeds a specific temperature, this function will be activated to reduce LED current, minimizing the chances of LED malfunction and avoiding shortened service life caused by overheating.
