  • Macroblock driver IC has once again been favored by major TV manufacturers.

2019 is the year when the global super-sized TV competition kicked off. TV manufacturers all launched their own "mini- / micro-LED modular TVs". Macroblock driver IC has once again been favored by major TV manufacturers. It is built in TCL's “The Cinema Wall” appearance at the CES 2020 in Las Vegas. The TV has a size of 132 inches, 4K resolution, 0.781 mm pixel pitch, and a contrast ratio of 2.5 million to 1. The design allows multiple modules to be combined together according to the space requirements so that consumers can have cinema-class visual enjoyment at home.

"The Cinema Wall" uses Macroblock driver IC MBI5759. MBI5759 is a 48-channel highly-integrated LED display driver IC, and its purpose is to respond to the need of super fine pitch for LED TV; it uses a common cathode architecture LED and corresponding power system, as well as  the built-in Dynamic+ power saving function of the driver IC to greatly reduce the power consumption of the LED direct-view TV system, so that viewers will not experience a noticeable temperature rise when viewing indoor large-scale, high resolution displays within a short distance. In terms of image performance, compared with other display technologies, the LED driver IC MBI5759 brings more color-depth performance and higher native contrast, and accurately represents a wide color gamut with its accurate driver current adjustment ability.

TCL Electronics ranked second in the world in total TV sales in the first half of 2019. A differentiated product portfolio focusing on the premium and high-end segment is one of the strategies that contribute to the continuous high growth of TCL TV sales, which coincides with the “innovation” and “quality” value propositions that Macroblock upholds.
