CES 2024 | Macroblock Drives to Level-Up Transformation for Automotive Lighting and Cockpit Display

The demonstration zones are separated into the exterior and interior parts of the vehicle.
For the exterior parts:
Emblem Light

Macroblock showcases LED driver IC solutions that include MBI1841Q and MBI1838Q. These solutions feature a wide output current and sustaining voltage that provides flexibility in controlling luminance. The MBI1841Q also includes different dimming control and built-in control patterns for variable lighting effects. Additionally, the MBI1841Q has full LED protections and error message feedback for improved safety of vehicles.

Interactive LED Matrix Display / Grille Light in the Front
Macroblock first debuts revolutionary LED matrix displays on vehicles with LED driver IC solutions that include the MBI5353Q, MBI5780Q, and MBI5989Q, which offer premium visual performance with a maximum 16-bit grayscale and 8K refresh rate. They allow for real-time interaction between cars and passengers, such as displaying messages, emojis, or animations. They also enhance safety and efficiency by communicating information such as speed, braking, or turning signals. As a result, these solutions are not just limited to LED matrix displays, but also grille light applications, facilitating safe and interactive communication between vehicles and pedestrians on the road.

LED Headlamp (High Beam / Low Beam / Daytime Running Light (DRL))
Macroblock demonstrates LED driver IC solutions that include the MBI6671Q for High Beam and Low Beam, and the MBI6671Q, MBI6665Q, MBI6657Q, and MBI6659Q for DRL. The MBI6671Q for High Beam and Low Beam features an external MOSFET for better efficiency and heat dissipation, as well as the ability to drive higher output power. It also supports multiple topologies including BOOST, BUCK, BUCK-BOOST, and SEPIC. For DRL, Macroblock showcases various LED driver IC solutions, including the MBI6671Q, MBI6665Q, MBI6657Q, and MBI6659Q, with features such as simple circuitry, error message feedback, and support for various topologies. These solutions demonstrate how Macroblock's LED driver ICs can provide reliable, efficient, and flexible automotive lighting systems.

LED Matrix for Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB)
With Macroblock's MBI6353Q, you can enjoy the benefits of Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB), the most advanced lighting solution for vehicles. The MBI6353Q can control up to 192 pixels with high brightness and contrast, and deliver smooth low-grayscale performance with hybrid dimming technology (PWM/ PAM). The ADB system, which combines Macroblock's LED driver IC, LEXTAR's lighting system, and ELAN's ADAS technology, can automatically adjust the beam pattern to avoid dazzling other drivers, while enhancing your visibility and safety. Full-Width Rear Light / Interactive LED Matrix Display in the Back
Macroblock demonstrates LED driver IC solutions, MBI5353Q, MBI5780Q and MBI5989Q, for revolutionary and interactive LED matrix displays in the back of vehicles, offering premium visual performance with a maximum 16-bit grayscale and 8K refresh rate. They allow real-time interaction between cars and passengers, such as displaying autonomous driving, traffic conditions, warning and reminding messages, charging status, braking or turning signals.

For full-width rear lights, Macroblock presents its solutions namely the MBI6353Q and MBI1841Q. The MBI1841Q comes with built-in control patterns and allows for different dimming controls to create variable lighting effects such as fading, running or flashing, adding a touch of style and personalization to the rear of the vehicle, improving overall visibility and safety on the road.

For the interior part (in-vehicle display):
FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) mini-LED Backlight for Cockpit Display / Steering Wheel Assistant Display

Macroblock, in partnership with JS Optoelectronics and Enflex, offers FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) mini-LED backlight driver IC solutions for various in-vehicle displays, such as cockpit displays. The MBI6353Q, MBI6329Q, and MBI6306Q feature flexible dimming zones, with demos displaying up to 576 zones. The MBI6353Q provides high luminance with a wide output current and excellent low-grayscale performance using hybrid dimming technology (PWM/ PAM). The MBI6306Q's glass substrate applicability adds further flexibility to cockpit display designs. In addition, this series of FALD mini-LED backlight driver IC solutions are applicable for steering wheel assistant display with higher brightness and contrast, making the display content clearer and not affected by sunlight or other light sources. Overall, the Macroblock LED driver IC solutions provide superior image quality, higher contrast ratios, and high reliability, which are critical benefits for in-vehicle display, placing Macroblock at the forefront of innovation.

micro-LED Display for Digital Side Mirrors
Macroblock debuts the latest common cathode LED driver IC, MBI5780Q, for micro-LED displays used in digital side mirrors. The MBI5780Q is equipped with a common cathode and features power-saving capabilities, making it an energy-efficient solution. Furthermore, the anti-glare and sunlight-readable technology ensure that the display remains visible even in bright outdoor conditions. The MBI5780Q also provides superior visual performance with a maximum 16-bit grayscale, ensuring high-quality and reliable performance for digital side mirror applications.

Head-Up Display (HUD)
Macroblock demonstrates the Head-Up Display, partnering with LEDYoung, with local dimming LED backlight technology, MBI6353Q, to enhance the benefits of HUDs with flexible dimming zones, hybrid dimming technology, and excellent low-grayscale performance. The demo with 384 dimming zones creates a more precise, localized dimming effect and provides high contrast with deep blacks and brighter whites, ensuring that all information displayed is easily visible in any lighting conditions.

Charging Station Commercial LED Display
