While A/V professionals are all gathering at Infocomm 2019 in Orlando, Florida from June 12 to June 14, many are looking for higher image and video quality of LED displays, especially for live-stage and broadcast applications. This year, Macroblock spotlights three features of LED display driver ICs, allowing visitors to “Xperience” the visual effect upgrade, the realization of HDR-optimized solution, and the outstanding power saving performance through our demonstration at booth #2481.

16-Channel SRAM LED Display Driver IC – MBI5253 (An Upgrade of MBI5153)
MBI5153 is one of Macroblock’s best-selling LED driver IC for 1.2~ 4mm pixel pitch LED displays for many years, but it is time for an upgrade. During the three-day exhibition, we demonstrate MBI5253, an upgrade to MBI5153, and compare the visual performance with MBI5153. MBI5253 is featured with all advantages of its precedent product, but improved on high contrast interference elimination. Visitors may see the improvement on MBI5253 demo at Macroblock’s booth. (Fig. 2) Users currently using MBI5153 can easily upgrade to MBI5253 with no additional effort, and expect better visual performance.

48-Channel Highly-integrated LED Driver IC- MBI5359 and MBI5759 (HDR-Optimized and Power Saving Solutions)
48-channel highly-integrated LED driver IC series are aiming at smaller pixel pitch (0.5~1.5mm) and premium LED display markets. MBI5359 is Macroblock’s “HDR-Optimized” LED display driver IC that enables LED displays with advanced HDR capabilities:  achieves full 32 scan multiplexing of LED display, true 16-bit grayscale output which converts a 10-bit video source input to a 16-bit grayscale output, and 3,840Hz refresh rate, all at the same time. In addition, MBI5359 features Dynamic+ power saving function to optimize driver IC power consumption.

As for common cathode LED displays, the MBI5759, a 48-channel source type LED driver IC, is capable of driving common cathode LEDs with specific power supply systems, Together with the Dynamic+ power saving function, it is able to reduce overall system power consumption efficiently. For visual performance, MBI5759 features 14-bit grayscale to ensure high image and video quality.

The realization of HDR-Optimized and power saving solutions are demonstrated at Macroblock’s booth, we compare three LED display cabinets side-by-side: one with MBI5359 running at 14-bit grayscale mode with SDR video content, one with MBI5359 running at 16-bit grayscale mode with HDR video content, and one with MBI5759 running at 14-bit grayscale mode with the same HDR video content. (Fig. 3) Through the demos, MBI5359 at 16-bit grayscale mode enables LED display to deliver exceptional video quality with higher color depth and higher dynamic range at 25000:1 contrast ratio.

Meanwhile, the common cathode LED display cabinet taking advantages of MBI5759 and the specific power supply highlights the overall system solution which can achieve a lower surface temperature and lower system power consumption, with great video quality.

12-Channel Highly-integrated LED Driver IC – MBI5850 (HDR-Optimized Solution for Live Event and Broadcast)
MBI5850 is a scan-sharing, 12-channel, and a highly-integrated LED driver IC that also features the “HDR-optimized” solution for 1.2mm to 6mm pixel pitch LED displays. The scan-sharing structure simplifies the PCB layout of the LED display modules, helping manufacturers to reduce labor and material costs while improving manufacturing efficiency. For system integrators of live events and broadcasting rooms, MBI5850 is an ideal solution to deliver high quality HDR video content with the best visual experience to the audience. At Macroblock’s booth, we demonstrate smooth 16-bit grayscale performance by displaying both grayscale pattern and video content comparing MBI5850 to MBI5153. (Fig. 4)

We sincerely welcome you to stop by our booth to “Xperience” all of the demonstrations from Macroblock. Our staffs are more than happy to accommodate you and fill you in with details of our newest products.
